We spent the night after our wedding in the English Inn in Eaton Rapids; it was beautiful and very fancy.
Wednesday was very busy and I had come down with a cold. We went a returned the sound equipment. Greg dropped me off out front so that I could go in and let the employee know that we were there as Greg drove around to the back door. I walked in the front and found an employee and then I couldn't figure out what to say. It was hilarious to me. I started off to say "My friend is pulling around back with the sound equipment", and then I realized that wasn't accurate at all. I wanted to say "My friend" because everyone is my friend, but Greg's way more than that. Then I'm think, what do I call him, my boyfriend, my fiancé, crap. I settled on just saying "Greg's pulling around back with the sound equipment," because after all my stuttering and stumbling everyone in the room was staring at me. After I said that, I realized what I was supposed to say was "My husband's pulling around back with the sound equipment." But I couldn't get it out. It was too funny to me. I felt like an idiot, but I guess this is all part of the getting used to this new level of our relationship! Also we did all of the running around necessary to get our new lives in order, bank, secretary of state, and all that fun stuff. And said our good byes to many people. =(
Wednesday night we spent at my mom's house. We unloaded Greg's stuff, and the wedding stuff into my mom's living room. In the morning we packed it all up and headed out. Greg was actually able to pack all of my stuff, his stuff, his sound equipment, and even the stuff that I thought I was going to have to ship into the car. Wow, I was so impressed. I was so worried about not being able to bring all of the stuff that I really wanted to bring with me. But Greg did it! He found a way.
Thursday was filled with driving. We left Michigan at about 9am. We made it through Indiana, Illinois and just about halfway through Iowa. The driving wasn't too bad. It was gray and wintry. Iowa was pretty bad. There was a lot of fog, it was terrible, and we were down to zero visibility for most of it. We stopped at about 7pm (8pm in Michigan time) so it was just about an eleven-hour day (including stops). I started to feel better during the afternoon so I gave Greg a chance to catch a little nap in the car. For dinner we stopped by Cracker Barrel. Greg had never been there before. He liked it. After dinner, Greg took back over driving. After a little bit of confusion, we were back on track.
Thursday night we found a wonderful hotel in Stuart, Iowa. It was the AmericInn it looked new. The rates were reasonable and we had a great time.
Now were back on the road. We think we got just over half of the journey done yesterday. We're in Lincoln, Nebraska, right now. It's about 50 miles inside the Nebraska state line on 80. We hadn't really hit much road construction along the trip until Nebraska. They actually have some really icky potholes. Almost as soon as we hit the state line, the fog lifted, strange.
We think we'll be able to get all the way home tonight. I'm so excited. It was sad to leave everyone. But it's been so good getting to spend so much time with Greg. I'm very much looking forward to learning how to be his wife, and learning how to let him be my husband.
That's all for now! I'll write more later.
Love you all!
