Overall it's been interesting being married. I was getting a bad cold the day that we got married. It hit really hard the day after we got married. The next day Greg came down with the same icky cold. It only took me a few days to get better, but Greg's still struggling with varying degrees of it. It hasn't been much fun.
Once we got into Colorado Springs we started cleaning. The apartment was a mess. Greg hadn't really had time to clean it up over the last week that he was here. He put together our new bed and had to work late a lot and had to pack. And then when we get here we had to get all of my stuff in here somewhere... it was interesting. Through the process we've discovered we have entirely different systems of organizing.... I think we spent the first 3 or 4 days here cleaning and shopping for things that we needed/wanted for the apartment.
Christmas was wonderful. We had some gifts from my Grandma that we moved out here. We opened them on Christmas morning in the midst of finishing the last of the cleaning. We made a big dinner (and dispite our best attempts, we still have a ton of left overs) and we had a family from church come over. It was so much fun. They had two younger girls, Patience and Skylynne, they were so cute and so much fun to have over. We made sugar cookies earlier in the day and the girls and I made frosting and then they decorated the cookies. It was a lot of fun. They kept telling me how much of a mess that Greg made last year with the frosting. We didn't have that problem this year. After dinner we had a fire going in the fireplace and we all sat around and watched a movie together. It was really a lot of fun.

**Side notes on Christmas - While we were making the cookies earlier in the day, I went and dropped a pot holder on the element inside the oven.... I reached in to get it, and just as I did it started up in flames. The only thing I could think to do was to get Greg's attention. "Greg, I just lit a pot holder on fire." He came over and put it out and everything was fine. - Also, the fire place.... I decided I would help out with the fire and put another log in. Did that, got the log burning, went back to the couch. About 10 minutes later that log fell out onto the tile floor. Greg jumped up and got it back in the fire place before anything happened. My hero.
The cleaning is pretty much done now. We've spent the last few days inside doing nothing. It's been very relaxing and very nice. Greg ordered the parts to the new computer. I think the old computer knows that it's been replaced. It was being frustrating before, now it's just been terrible. It keeps freezing up at the slightest tasks. And then it has to be reset. We can't put the side of the case back on because it misbehaves more when the case is fully put together. This computer is the central one for the network, so when it has to be rebooted, it messes up different abilites of the other computers. Boo. I can't wait until we get all the pieces. It seems that they're going to be delivered just after the new year. I can't wait.
Oh yeah, let's not forget that the entire time that Greg was looking up computer parts, I was goofing off on the laptop checking my email and all that. Greg set up my emails and everything into Outlook, I've never used that program before. Not to mention the files of mine that I already have on the computer system is on a network spread between various drives, never had to fuss with that before. And Greg's primary internet browser is Mozilla Firefox, I was used to Internet Explorer. So I was pretty completely lost. After about the 3rd or 4th time of having to ask Greg to fix my settings after I clicked on something I didn't like after all, I looked at him and told him, "Really, I'm not computer illiterate". He just laughed at me and told me that it was okay.
Let's see, what other adventures did we have because I'm completely outside my normal element and range of familiarity? Oh yeah... Ever have problems in a new place figuring out where you put your keys? Well, after shopping one day, I took the keys from Greg opened the door and got inside. We got everything situated, but the next day when we went looking for the keys we couldn't find them. After about 10 minutes of searching, Greg asked me if I left them in the door. I go over to the door and check, and low and behold, there they were just a hanging there. I felt like a complete idiot.
So far this being married thing has been quite a humbling experience.
We went and got most everything set up with the Army about us being married and I now have a silly looking ID card. And I'm now covered by the Army's medical care system. Greg's wasn't too trilled about being back on post before he had to, but he stuck in there and we made it through.
Yesterday was wonderful. Greg made a great breakfast for us. And then we just laid around and watched movies. We watched Pirates 2 and then we had lunch. Then we tore apart the dryer. Greg switched the laundry over and then the dryer didn't want to start turning. Next thing I know Greg's looking at me, pulling the dryer out of the closet and says "We have a project!" and smiles. We took the back off and found that there was a pencil inside that was causing the motor to work too hard. And then we took the front off and took out the drum and oiled the motor so that it would stop squeeling. And after about an hour of all that fun, we put it back together and it works wonderfully. I was quite impressed. Greg's really wonderful.

After the dryer was put back in the closet, we watched Pirates 3. Greg actually seemed to really enjoy both movies. By then it was 8, we got dressed and went on post so that Greg could sign back in. Apparently the guy at the Staff Duty desk was someone Greg knows so they chatted a bit and Greg got teased a little bit. But he seems to be taking it well. After Greg signed in, we went out to dinner. We had calzones at Old Chicago. It was a lot of fun. Greg's usually one for making dinner at home, but even he said that it was really fun to go out tonight.
Greg goes back to work on Wednesday because of the holidays. (He gets New Years Eve and New Years Day off.) And then officially he only has to do half days for the rest of that week. So there's still a lot of room for gradual adjustment into what will be the normal groove of our lives together.
Some time I'll have to start looking for a job. I'm just kind of enjoying this time with having so little on my plate.
Well that's pretty much the update!
